MRI scans are most commonly used to examine differences between normal and abnormal tissue while CT Scans are used to provide more detailed information about the hearts, lungs, pelvis, hips, reproductive systems, bladder and gastrointestinal tract.

MRI Scans are commonly used for preventative checks since they do not involve any radiation. CT Scans involve radiation and are therefore not commonly used for preventative checks.
